 This shot was taken at a market in San Juan Ostuncalco, Guatemala. The older woman selling the onions was trying to convince the younger woman that she hadn’t paid her the full amount that she owned her. I love taking photos in places like markets, and have had a lot of success ‘shooting from the hip’ in these situations. Obviously one has to use discretion when taking pictures of indigenous people in these environments. I typically set my camera to continuous shoot, turn off the flash, and hold it at my side, shooting to the left or the right as I continue to look straight, talk to people, etc. This technique allows me to get incredibly close-up candid shots of local people, and the angles of the photos also often turn out more interesting than what a normal shooting environment would produce. Looks like a snapshot to me. The colors aren't standing out as much as I would like to see them.

The colors are too muted and the overall contrast is too low.
