Flamingos are suprisingly entertaining birds. Usually there are endless squabbles, with those long necks twisting every which way so they can snap at each other, poufed up and shrieking. Well, I find it entertaining, anyway! This fellow was intent on making love, not war, but the female was completely uninterested, while an onlooker in the back was playing voyeur. I found the whole scene kind of funny.
PP - converted from RAW (once with exposure upped, once normal, selected greens from lighter exposure and copied to normal exposure, merged with 50% transparency on lighter layer; levels, increased contrast slightly, burnt background birds to bring out detail, desaturated all but pink/orange range, used desat brush to desaturate background birds and reflections, dodged/burnt details on birds, increased saturation, cloned out bright white feathers on male's wing and white patch on island next to him, USM, reduced noise, added border, resized, sharpened, dodged underside of dark wing and blurred nearby background |
