post-challenge:
thanks for the comments. actually meant to swap this out for another, since it was kind of similar to my elements entry (tho that was take a week or so later in a different location). Still, I like it.

I was going for the soft color sky and muted tones here, as a balance to the golden fields.

Dr Confuser is right -- its difficult to shoot grasslands; all those beautiful wavy leaves of grass blowing in the wind often turn into jaggy lines when frozen in a picture. This one was shot around 3 p.m. on a short hike (really a stroll) with my 8 year old on the edge of a city park near my house ... late enough for the light to give some definition to the hills, but not late enough for it to really make the image pop.

Nice use of a close focal point to highlight the landscape.

Colors are good as the picture is. Good toning.

Nice picture but the frame is a bit much (too thick).

I have tried to take similar photos (maybe in a nearby place) and found it very difficult to capture what my eye sees or the feeling I have looking at the scene. Maybe ty it early in the morning, or late in the day?

I think you could have gotten away with really pushing on the blues in the sky and the lake to help balance the colors a bit, the yellow gold is overpowering

Needs more blue IMO. The sky is a little plain and just needs more color.

Beautiful. I can't decide if the stick on the right hand side of the frame is a distraction or a balance for the bush. Interesting composition.

Good lighting but needs some contrast.

It looks a bit washed out to me. Relaxing scene, though.
