What you know, and what I see are two different things.
As a photographer, you have to portray what you know in the frame.
I do not have ESP. I don't know different religious rituals.
In this image, all that I see is a man on a stoop, leaning over water.
For all I know, he is using the water as a mirror. For all I know, this man is getting cool by a fountain. For all I know, he is readying himself to dive in the water.
There is nothing here that explains what you want to show me.

Your focus seems to be a touch off. The hands are more in focus then the face which makes the shot seem awkward. This effect would be good if the hands were holding something or doing something.

I like this shot. Just wish the focus was sharper. Perhaps crop a bit more on the left as the body language is pointing towards the right. This will make it less of a "target" shot. Nice idea. |

sorry, but as a photographer your job is to convince me.
photographically, this is a nice picture. However, I am not convinced that this is religious. |
