Hi Monica.
I really like your choice of subject ... I believe it is an "over the hill" Poppy. I've always been so entranced with the bright orange blossoms I've never looked further for the end of it's life.

| Monica, I really like this image. It's an interesting object both in trying to figure out exactly what it is, but also visually. It appeals to me in both ways. I like the movement from lower right to upper left, and the focus helps lead the eye to the main subject. I might have tried to get a few more of the little black thingies (seeds?) in sharp focus. You may want to try another, very light sharpen on the reduced version, as some resizing can affect sharpening. I like the use of negative space here, the white background and soft shadows are quite effective. |

Monica, thanks for joining us - this has been a great group, very supportive, very encouraging and a great learning opportunity. Interesting subject and great detail, very nice processing. We want to see more of your work!

it's the taking part that matters!!
I'm always behind in these things :-)
anyway, you've started off well.
this is a nicely composed macro that looks good in black and white.
i would personally like a little more room around the flower, but that's just me.
keep up the good work.
(and you can always post more than one a day if you want to catch up!!!) |
