 Lighting: Flash with cardboard snoot firing up from below.

Post processing: RAW. Black and white conversion, channel mixer with 100% red channel. Cloned out some spots. Minor curves adjustment for more contrast.

Yep Hitchcock all the way, the very first thing that popped into my head when I saw the full size version was a scene from a Hitchcock movie showing the unlocked door before the killer enters the room...Fantastic shot!! Very creative!! Very Film Noir.
