 So, 10:00pm, the 23rd, in lower Manhattan, looking for an interesting subject to reflect my idea of being on the fringe. This gentleman was nice enough to let me take a shot of him. He didn;t even ask for money like the others before him (although I did give him all the cash I had on me afterwards). He was very nice and let me take several shots. Anyway, sot right home, did some quick post processing (i.e colour into grayscale, cropped & added a border)to make the deadline!
Homelessness in NYC has skyrocketed in these our BUSH years. Shelters are overwhelmed & understaffed. As we sit with our loved ones this holiday & appreciate all that we have, I believe we have a responsibility to think of those less fortunate. This is my way.

very difficult subject matter, well done. the DOF and focus is good. There's a lot going on in this picture. the bags and trolley of belonging's draw the eye away from the most interesting part of the image. a tight crop of the gentleman would have given a stronger image.
Also i would like to see the image taken from a lower angle. still, a nice shot.

This certinaly is a foto of On the Edge.. It says a lot more.... Great foto.. This man looks very proud in spite of all... A picture is worth a thousands words..

Idea readily suggests itself. God B&W interpretation. Love the look in his eyes. He seems to be challenging you.

just in my opinion, to really evoke emotion in these images a closer frame of the man and less surroundings would be needed.

NIce idea, but I can't help but wonder if this isn't a set up shot. the shoes look too clean and it looks as tho it was shot in your basement. but it does fit the challenge and I like it in Black and white

Good interpretation of the challenge. This man looks like he is on the edge of something...society perhaps. This has a feel to it I can't describe. Nice work..8

what a great face - fallen on hard times..this is an image that is very powerful, clear, sharp focus, and tells quite a story with his little bit of home
