This is an awesome shot. I am still trying to get a lighting shot.

Lightning, as an atmospheric phenomenon, fits very well for the challenge - great capture and I envy your nerve to stand outside in a lightning storm!

I have never been able to catch a lightning bolt - I'm terribly envious! And by the way, I'd have never tried to clone out all those wires - I suck at cloning (and not in a good way). I like the contrast of the yellow sodium lights against the purple sky, too.

Wow, that's stunning! A purple sky with a thunderbolt - what more do these voters want?!

However, I'm really surprised you didn't clone out the power lines. It's allowed under Advanced rules, and it would have radically improved the shot.

Nice capture and good timing, but the power lines and yellow lights ruin this for me. 5

Nice capture - Love the colours and the power lines I like - Has a very "Back to the Future" feel to it. I like it a lot.

Really cool that the line seems to extend from the light in the center. Love the purple and blue sky.

there is so much about this photo that is bad, maybe i should not say bad but stuff that detracts from it, the power lines, the street lights.... but that lightening bolt is AMAZING! the way you can see where it starts and ends like its coming right at the viewer. i'm going to give you a 10 for being lucky enuf to catch that shot within the challenge dates!
as a side nit pic i might have called it "fire in the sky" or something as the water plays very little role in this shot

When I think of electricity i do not really think of it as being fire. When I switch the plug on there obviously isn't fire going on inside the cables otherwise the plastic coatings would melt. So for this reason alone i think you have tried to match this photo to the challenge rather than going out with the intention of taking an elements style shot. Not that this is a problem but it shows in the style of shot and the fact it rather looks like a snapshot rather than something you have taken time over to think about and plan and for that reason I am giving this a 3.
