This has got to be the most difficult set-up I have ever done. I used a strobe to properly expose my "dead" body, and a long exposure to give the ghostly effect of me standing on the side. I don't have a portable power supply, so I had to use a converter to allow me to plug it in to the car's cigarette lighter. Unfortunately, there isn't enough power supplied there to really help out too much. It would take approx. five minutes for the flash to fully recharge between shots. Besides that, I had to try several locations. Some were too dark, so my "ghost" was not visible at all. Some were too light, so my "dead" body appeared transparent also. This spot finally made it at least worth trying.
For editing, I cloned out a small pvc pipe housing an electrical line on the building behind me, sharpened, dodged/burned, adjusted color saturation and brighness, sharpened some more, dodged and burned some more, etc, etc. |

This image may not be as evocative as the more symbolic or grandiose ones that placed higher, but the technical skill needed to pull this off is understandably quite impressive. The result is quite well done, and I'm glad you stuck with it until you got it to work. Nice job. |

Ohmygosh! What in the WORLD is this doing in 47th place with a 5.8 score! I protest! This is AMAZING! The processing is to die for. The concept even better. And the execution: flawless!
I'm afraid you got robbed. I hate it when that happens!

just excellent .. i love the way the body's lying on the road and the posture of the 'spirit' .. excellent idea and love your processing .. i had a similar idea, and did my first long exposure for the religion challenge .. i called it 'a soul's journey' .. mine was the soul coming out'v the body and reaching up, to show yearning for the spiritual .. unfortunately too much use of vignette and curves, plus increasing the canvas size got me a dq .. i'm happy, coz it was bombing out real bad, and now i'm just more aware of wot i can and cant do in an advanced challenge .. also if i'm at all unsure, and i have time, i'll ask for validation before the challenge starts voting .. i hope you do well in this coz it is a wonderful image .... :) =9 |

nice look, I'm curious about your editing steps. well done. Would be nice if the laying down person didn't pop out of the image quite so much. Almost feels out of place. the spirit version fits in really well. |
