The "bars" are too much in the way & out of focus which is very distractig.

This shot really lacks composition or focus and has many blown out areas on the feathers. Some things you could have done to improve it would be lower your angle to see his face more and remove distractions such as the other bird in the back. To make it something of interest wait around until he does something interesting, really in this photo there is nothing interesting going on.
