This was taken in the Iris gardens of Montclair NJ, home of the largest selection of Iris. There are Iris breeds from the 1700 to present day. There are Irises of every color, shape, and size.

Iris is one of my favorite flowers. I like the colors against the black bg.
To improve this, I would adjust the brightness a bit as the white on the right side is blown out. Also, I would crop out the stem as it does not add to the beauty of the petals.

Lower right hand area of the flower looks too bright. I think a lower ISO would have done you a bit better.

It doesn't scream "science" to me, but it's a pretty image. There is just enough of the plant in the background showing to detract from the image (advanced rules let you clone it out, right?). Also the blowout in the lower right petal is just too overwhelming to me.

Odd crop. I believe that a shot like this should be either centered or way off to one side. Having to just slightly off to the left is distracting. And the right leaf centers are blown out, making the flower unbalanced.
