Okay, well this is my first challenge submission! Kind of exciting, really. :) I'm still just hoping I'm doing everything right.
This is my friend Lauren and her sister Megan. I originally wanted to show their similarities and differences in appearance. It was crazy photographing the two of them together because their expressions were always so completely opposite. Lauren was smiling and relaxed, whereas Megan always seemed to challenge the viewer. This is my favorite. It's a pretty good representation of their different ways of approaching life.
Okay, so everyone seemed kinda confused on the title. Originally it was going to be something like "Sisters: Past and Present". The photo is very much about Megan. There is the sense (to me, at least) that she is engaged and Lauren is merely a passive onlooker. I wanted the title to show that. I guess it makes a little more sense if you emphasized the MY... "My Sister's Presence in MY Present"
No? Well, next time I'll try to make it less complicated! :)

welcome to dpc! I gave this a 6. I like that the sister is out of focus, it makes her seem like a spirit haunting her sister. maybe b/w so their skin tones don't clash?

seems like you take photos for the right reasons. stick around!

the girl in the front is real well done as she is emphasizing the girl behind , as you no doubt wanted

The front girl's expression and eye liner make her appear really sad :-( If that is the feeling you are trying to get from the viewer, it works!

Good display of lighting for to distinguish the past from the now. Good job. But I think your title should be My Sister's Presence is in my past.

I truly LOVE the portrait of the girl in the front, so much so that I wish dearly that the girl in the back wasn't in the frame.

I'm sure she's lovely - but I would have edited here out entirely.

I like the lighting on the person in front, I like the head tilt of both, I wish there were better focus on the person in the rear and the expression on the person in front looks very sad or unhappy, which is kinda opposite of the one in back. I assume you mean "sisters'" as it doesn't look like a self-portrait
