The challenge is asking Why, I don't care why, I care about Y-Knot. A simple rope, born of fibers and twisting, a quick hand and several passes of the rope, a little wire for stability hammer it to a wall and you have Y-Knot. Sometimes we as photographers et so wrapped up in trying to get that perfect photo we forget to have fun and make stupid shots. That's what this is a stupid shot, and I'll bet I'm going to be lucky to score above a 4.3 on this challenge.

Nice lighting idea, though I think it would have benefitted from moving the rope away from the background and hitting it with a second light of it's own. Personally I would have had the light fall off even more as the ropes dissapear out of frame, too. Possibly some white balance issues? Nice picture though, and great interpretation of the subject.

Cute idea, but the lighting is a little harsh. and a little too direct. Maybe some side lighting and change to B&W?.... just a thought...

I am not a good photographer, I do not claim to be better than anyone, any criticism is meant to be constructive criticism......

I'm unsure of your light, I suppose. This has little appeal to me - in any sense, I'm afraid: one has seen so many still lives, product shots, 'shapes' concocted to amuse us. But a decent hemp rope has such fabulous texture and spikiness that a direct pool of blue light seems an odd choice to illuminate it with.
