I have always been amazed by the shapes that dripping wax makes from a candle. It's quite incredible to think that it can be melted and forms one shape when put into a mold, then melted again and drops into a free-form shape. The transition from a manipulated shape into a free-form shape by the heat of the lit wick is one of beauty. So, I shot it! I placed it on a slightly wet piece of glass over a black sheet of bristol board to capture a reflection for interest. *smile*

Following Basic Editing rules, I sharpened, adjusted brightness and contrast, levels and color adjusted ever so slightly. Then, I sized it to proper DPC required dimensions and gave it a border. That's it. The top of the candle had blue and green mixtures of wax dripped into it, so the resulting free form was the melted blue and green.

My bet is that this shot won't do well in this challenge. I'll get comments like "too plain" or "this is it?" or "overprocessed/oversharpened". And, yes, as you're reading this, I will likely have pounded my keyboard and will have long since dismantled the "update button" for getting comments like...."doesn't do it for me" and "I think you could have done more with it".

I think that there will be beautiful changing leaf colors shots, or buds to open flowers that will take the ribbons and bulk of upper range scores in this challenge. Oh, why didn't I think of those until now?! ;)

Prediction on my score:

Mostly, 4s and 5s, one or two 6's, but they will be taken down by the 1's, 2's and 3's that will inevitably be given. *sigh* This one will likely finish in the lower 5 or less range.

BUT, I LIKE IT!! *smile*
