I really like the emotion you've captured with the subject. I get that same half hopeless, half frantic feeling when I desperately wish something I'm working hard on is turning out pathetic. Very powerful!

Speaks to me. Succinct title.

Not sure why, but when I look at this I think Twilight Zone still. I like the grain and the feeling that the subject is all alone in a crowded room, very nice.

Critique Club Review:

Overall I like the photo. The back of the chair and the disembodied arm at the right is a little distracting. I like the contrast, but the overall lighting seems a little bit dim to me. Not bad, mind you. Just a little brighter but not so as to change the mood, would have worked better for me.

Focus and depth of field are done very well. This picture certainly looks like it would work better in black and white, than color. Nice choice.

The semi transparent item in the upper left of the frame doesn't seem to fit, almost looks like a double exposure.

I do like the person on the left. We see enough to set the mood, and tell the story, but not so much as to compete for attention. I also like the dark background. There is enough there to let us know it is busy, but not enough to distract us from the subject.

Overall I would have scored you well into the top 100. One of the things about taking a different path, is that not everyone will be able to follow. Good on you for doing your own thing.

I think this is a wonderful shot. I like how the guy on the left frames the shot, but gives enough to give context to the shot. Same goes with the arm. Feels like the guy is getting beat down by the critics. Love it. Lighting is a bit rough and is probably what hurt you. This is the type of photo that one can't enjoy on a quick vote once over. Shame. Good stuff.

I "might" have left this one as "Untitled" as there is a lot of intpretation in the scene.

Thanks for not cropping the guy on the left of the shot. While your title does give a scenario for this, I see more of a sad meeting of relatives, going over the books of the family business that's not faring well.

I can't tell what that is that's 'floating' in the upper left corner, yet I think it is significant to the image. I like the feel/mood of the shot, and don't mind the grain and darkness.

this looks more like a pose than a candid shot.

A touch on the dark side, and it makes it difficult to discern exactly what is happening

Like the title; image is very dark and grainy (I assume that's intentional) and I feel like it overdramatizes what appears to be a pretty ordinary place with not much happening.

Nice grainy feel to this shot which makes you think that you are definitely an outsider looking in

Good image

I feel almost like I am looking in on something private..It is a very good photo. I think i would crop a little off of the top....Maybe.... haha, i'd like to see it like that anyway.

A little too much noise through high ISO...and too much darkness for the image...but the emotion is strong.

I like the feel to this - Wish the guy on the left was totally cropped out as it makes for a really interesting composition that way.
