I feel cold, the sky and the chop on the water coupled with the flat lighting gives me the chill of a damp and dreary day. I would like to be closer to the water edge, more intimate to the gondola. I am frustrated by the limited resolution of web viewing as I feel the true beauty of this image is in the detail.

how sinful of you to remove the color from Venezia!
no, actually this does a great job of emphasizing the beautiful shapes of the gondola and piers and posts all interacting, and then of course the architecture. How refreshing not to see reflections in a Venetian image. To quote myself:
"half-hidden place,
half the painters painted upside-down,"

| the b/w looks good on this one.. and I really like the composiiton.. perhaps a bit more detail on the gondola would be nice.. |
