This page has some information about these “air-core vortex rings” that dolphins can make; having pure fun! It doesn’t seem it’s as rare as mentioned in the article; I saw two or three dolphins doing it for about 20 minutes at SeaWorld. They'd make a big ring, or strand, and then somehow create from that a smaller ring, that they would push along until they'd bite it.
In RSE: lowered color temperature, exposure compensation, and highlight contrast, increased shadow contrast, exported to JPEG.
In Photoshop: auto levels, cropped, resized, unsharp mask, reduced noise (Neat Image), saved for Web.
