I never throw anything away. Don't remind my sister. So I had the bottom gerbera on file, so to speak. I bought two last night at a florist on the way home knowing, rather hoping they were last week's cause the looked sort of ratty. On the way home tonight the new ones were in. Put them together in various formations and decided on this one.

Post: Convert from raw in PSElements 3.0. Layer of Curves. Layer adjustments for levels, brightness/contrast and hue/saturation. Crop. Sharpen. Closed in PSElements. Reopened in PSP9 and used Clarify. Closed in PSP9 and reopened in Elements. Resize. Sharpen.

Bev had to go to the ER at HUP (where she worked as an OR nurse for years) with a severe pain in her back. So don't you all be giving me bad scores for this, OK? Sympathy votes will be graciously accepted. Get well soon, Bev!

Update: Third reshoot. Reset the preset white balance and changed the lighting a bit. Also change the background paper to another direction to be less distracting than the first shoot. The lead flower is different but works a bit better for the challendge in that it is a state of transition on its own. Editing steps about the same except added another layer of curves adjustment. Ordered differently but steps are there and add spot editing to dust in the background.

Update on Bev: She's home from the hospital but still in a lot of pain. She has narcotics for that but they don't seem to be helping. Hope she gets through this soon. Then that gall bladder has got to go.

nice concept.. It certainly has done well in the past.. I enjoy your take on this.. Only thing is I don't care for the background color against the stems & the vibrant red.. Maybe black or white would have been better for me.. overall, 7

Nice execution of the idea, but you've unfortunately picked a very common idea for this challenge.

i like the background, the reds seem a little over-saturated, good choice of subject for this challenge.

nicely done idea. The red complements the background well and you've composed the flowers well
