Wow, very harsh lighting. Bad time of day to try and get a nice shot. See how flat it looks? The texture is so evenly lit that you can't see any texture. The harsh shadow doesn't add anything either.

Overexposed. Try using a high ISO with proportional Shutter speed so it isn't washed out white, and than running it through neat image.

its a bit washed out on his shell and a lot washed out on the sand. Intresting texture on his neck, Good Luck
