Challenge: Action Shot (Advanced Editing I*)
Camera: Minolta DiMAGE Z1
Location: Bowling alley in Tucson, Az USA
Date: Jan 4, 2004
Aperture: 3.5
ISO: 200
Shutter: 1/25
Date Uploaded: Jan 4, 2004

Took this picture in the Tucson Bowl. This is located in Tucson, AZ USA.

All I did to the picture was:
Auto levels
Brighten +7
Contrast +14
Sharpened
Neat image to clean up a little by smothing edges. Used sharpen out of focus image also.

I know this is not the best but I hope that it does ok for my first Member Challenge any way.

Good stop action. But it would say much more about action if you would have waited another second until the pins were moving! Also, the front pins are overexposed, but this was I am sure a difficult shot (also I bet it would have been hard to get real stop action pin movement because of the low light and distance involved!)

Pity you didn't catch this a few seconds later as the pins went flying all over the place.

Almost the moment of truth. Perfect timing, great exposure, and thank the establishment for keeping their lanes so well polished to hold the great reflections.

It was one of my first ideas. The idea is good. But, in my opinion the angle is not the best, I´d prefer to see it centered. Furthermore, I´d prefer to see it when the ball push the bowls.. But, it just my opinion

I think I would have like this better if you'd taken the shot just when the pins were hit.

A moment too soon!

Not a bad idea, but I think it could be done better. I would have tried to keep the gutter out of the frame (no pun intended). To me, it looks like digital zoom was used. It lends to the grainy appearance. Finally, if you had captured the ball making an impact on the pins, sending them in the air, in different directions, etc, the picture would better embody the "action" description.

Maybe a little longer exposure would have showed better motion with the ball, or even the skittles being knocked over?

A great idea for the challenge, I can see a little motion in the ball so that's good.

nice sense of anticipation, but it would have had more impact at the moment that the pins were struck
