Natural lighting except a 4x4 reflector beaming sun through the two big pillars as a backlight.

Wonderful model. I need to shoot a bit wider - after a 1.2 degree straighten I lost her foot.

Thank you all for your comments - I cant believe I got a BLUE!!

Post processing was pretty simple - USM, straighten, levels and sponge desat.

Here is the original (feel free to look at the pic in full size but I do hold the rights to the image):

' . substr('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/60000-64999/62755/120/542900.jpg', strrpos('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/60000-64999/62755/120/542900.jpg', '/') + 1) . '
Here is my alt - didnt like it as much:

' . substr('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/60000-64999/62755/120/542895.jpg', strrpos('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/60000-64999/62755/120/542895.jpg', '/') + 1) . '

If anyone wants to see that days shoot in its entiretiy please go here (again - I and the model own these images - no-one else does)

Love it. I am watching Cutting Edge and the model is giving you the feeling of ice... sans Ice. Grace personafied. Pity about the left foot.

Congratulations, and thank you for posting the link to the entire shoot. Educational and inspiring. Her poses ran the gamut from awkward and strained to graceful and stunning. You clearly picked the best of the bunch.

This is just one of the most beautiful images I've ever seen. It's almost magical. Many people mentioned the word "elegant", and that it is. What a lovely piece of work.

I agree that this is a well derserved blue and well deserved of the 10 I placed on this. I liked this photo for the clarity, framing, and just an overall original idea for the challenge.

Congrats for this beautiful photo. Well composed and wonderful light.
Congrats to the model too. I've a project in mind with a classic dancer; ask her if she is available for my pictures ;)

Very nice work!

FYI: you can use the skew tool in PS to fix the verticals without losing the foot. PM me if you want me to show you how.

Nice photo, I really like ballet photos.
I was looking at the whole gallery in the past 15 minutes - congratulations, there are some really nice shots. I think some images are better than this one, if it were a little bit wider (I see you know) the airy and light feeling can be better - and on some of your images it is.
My favourites were: MG 027, 073, 076 and 196.

The environment is really well chosen too. Nice, nice... :)

Todd, congrats on the Blue!

By the way I think you could've saved the foot if you used the Transform tool after you straightened the shot and pulled the bottom left corner a bit down - it is allowed in the Advanced ruleset. But you're right, don't shoot so tight next time. Cutting right under the foot is not so great compositionally either IMO.

Awesome!! Congratulations on an outstanding image - the delicate nature of the dancer and her lovely, striking figure balanced against the hard yet still graceful lines and curves of the structure forms a very pleasing image indeed!!

I added my bump here with glee. This is such a fine image with the microscopic imperfection, but then look at its sheer strength to Blue!!! Congratulations on an outstanding study and luscious presentation!

I love the color vs the pale stone, the beauty vs the harsh stone, the flowing breezy look, its just breathtaking. My only critique would be the missing foot, therefore I gave it a 9. If the other foot was in the shot, the scene would have been complete and perfect.

Classical pose with lovely tilt and graceful choice of ballet attire to match the classic stone work. Would have loved to have the planted feet in the image. 7

great image but I don't like the cut on the left foot. but for me is impossible assign a vote under 8 :)

This, I would probably have banked on for getting blue. Not sure though because of the cropped foot.

Beautiful shot. Lovely flow of the fabric in contrast to the columns. I'd love to see both feet in the image - but nearly perfect. Back to bump you up to 9.

So elegant, graceful and simple all at the same time. I love how the color of her dress stands out against the columns. My only nitpick (and a small one at that) is I wish it was just a tad wider at the bottom so her foot wasn't cut off. Still a 9 from me.

LOVELY! I really like this. It's a shame about her left foot though.

Really this is a stunning shot. I can't believe I had this as an 8 when I originally voted. What was I thinking? Surely I didn't knock of 2 whole points because a tiny bit of her foot was cut off? Well anyways now that I'm back to comment and look more critically I can say this is a 10 no doubt. The perspective is so wonderful.

Beautiful picture. I think including her left foot would make it even better.

This one is quite a bit better than the one in theother challenge imo. the diagonals of the dancer work well with the columns, i first thought that a crop in from the R would help but after looking I agree even though the bright area on the R is somewhat distracting - perhaps a bit of burning there may help. finally the colors work well here too, great shot

I wish I could see the whole left foot but I like repetitious play that the arches have.

What an incredible photo. Although, if someone where to be really picky, they may criticize you on cutting off the foot. I think its a 10 anyway.
