I was impressed with my pun of "Negative Space" for a few minutes, but I guess I'm over it now. Soon to carry on the tradition of sucking.
I was also impressed how i cut down the highlights to lessen their impact for this particular challenge...so I'm putting down the details if i recall them correctly...and since for some reason i think someone is going to care or think this was poorly dodged and try to dq me ;)
Distort to straighten the fence
Shadow highlight 25% shadows , 100% highlights
Shadow highlight 25% shadows , 100% highlights
Shadow highlight 0% shadows, 100% highlights
Levels to lighten midrange and white end
Hue Saturation to Lessen Yellow and Red
Unsharp Mask 100,1,0
Resize for Web
Sharpen Edges
Neat Image based on Fence as new Layer at 80% opacity
Save for Web
Decided I needed to destroy the composition and crop the top so I wouldn't receive 10 comments again telling me how easily distracted people are.
Then I did another curve adjustment and maybe a color balance toward yellow, and then maybe a bit more desaturation of red.
Resave for Web
Well I thought to myself...this really isn't negative space so let's try something else
ChannelMixer: Red Channel 106, +6, -30
At least it feels more like negative space
Save for Web
I actually like this now...I don't suppose you'll spend as much time staring at it to like it too. |
Disqualification Details |
You may use only Adjustment Layers (or their equivalent). An Adjustment Layer is a special type of layer containing no image data that lets you experiment with color and tonal adjustments without permanently modifying the pixels. Adjustment Layers must be applied in Normal mode. |

yes well, i guess i shouldn't have smited the dq police in my initial comments ;) But really, i didn't do anything that couldn't have been done with adjustmentment layers alone...except the distort of course...kind of missed that new rule or perhaps old one by now. anyway, i still hereby deem this required method of adjustment layers to be unconstitutional as long as you abide by the basic law of not altering individual pixels, aka making processing adjusts to the entire image in normal blending mode. i know you don't care. i guess i really don't either. thanks for listening though. |

I'm not sure but your person has a halo effect going on around . |

Clever idea which fits the theme well but the size of the person seems a little out of scale and the apparent use of the dodge tool detract from the image a little for me. |
