 This is the tips of an unfurled cycad leaf in the front garden of my residence. The original bud has taken almost the whole year to get from a bud to this untidy looking mess. It's the first time that I've watched this happen, and it's facinating. I took the picture of the edges against the background of the cycad itself at full zoom and short distance.

I didnt vote this one as high as i normally would have because of the size. The focus looks good though, although im not sure what it is.

Ooo the lighting is just too harsh on your subject which is too bad because this is a good fit to the challenge other wise.

This looks like the beginnings of a flower or other type of plant. I wish it were a bit bigger. It looks like you shot this in harsh sunlight, it might be better to shoot it on an overcast day to give it a softer feel.

The lighting on this is a bit harsh and the subject is not that well set apart from the similarly colored background. Good use of DOF to try and separate them though.
