 Ok I was really excited about this. I went to a ball game and they had a "Where's Waldo" promotion going on. Could not believe my luck - there he is, dead center, Waldo, the man. So lalala rushed home, edited the pic, submitted the photo, and then took the time to read the title description. Yeah, it says otherwise personless pic. Well, darn it, I took the time to take the photo and edit it. And it really does not look that bad. SO I am sure the literal voters will ding me, but I am happy with the pic. So in she goes!

POST: I was thanking the wrong people. I really need to thank the people who took the time to look PAST literal interpretations and judge it for the actual presentation. Thank you to those who stopped, and thought about it, and commented. Thank you for looking beyond the box. And thank you for not quoting the actual words from the challenge description (and assuming I am illiterate). lol

Considering all the DNMC comments, you still managed to pull off a 5, not too bad if you think about it. I think it was a good take on the challenge, much harder than what the real challenge required in my opinion.

OMG!!!!!!!! I CANNOT believe that this shot finished so low in the challenge This was such a lovely and unique shot in the comp.

No doubt this is the most Waldo-appropriate entry in the challenge! You should feel very good for managing to keep your head above 5 despite all the kneejerk dnmc's.

LOL......I kinda had a feeling this could have been yours! But, we are being "good girls" after our "stand in the corner time-out" aren't we?!

I guess now you know that you should have hidden Waldo in some terribly "obscure" and nearly "invisible place" in an otherwise "nice scenery" shot in order to win this challenge!!! ;) :)

SLAP, SLAP, SLAP and MORE SLAP!!!! ;)

But, nevermind......all of the great voters in here have truly reminded you that you didn't think inside "DPC's box"! Get with it woman......you gotta think "Waldo on a moutain tip, somewhere in Iceland"!! ;)

While I appreciate that you took the time to dress someone in appropriate colours to be "Waldo", the description did say to hide a person in an otherwise person-less photo. Sorry, DNMC. The photo is well composed and the selective desat draws attention to Waldo.

For me you might have made the 'All Alone' person more obvious amongst all of the other people. In that, it seems not to meet the challenge "Hide a person... in your otherwise person-less photo..."

While the Waldo books have Waldo among lots of people, our challenge was to hide Waldo in a personless photo. Sorry.

I can't believe you're getting anything other than beaten up with this image; directly contrary to the challenge description -- people are everywhere in this image. That said, I think it's delightful. Waldo was always in amongst people, and here it's so clear who "Waldo" is that it works well for me. The subdued tones in the rest of the image and the super bright colors in Waldo are just perfect. Nicely shot!

Yaaay a true Waldo, I so hope that this was someone who just happened to be wearing the outfit but I cant believe life is that good to DPCers. Really like the way you have brought out the red and the white on Waldo

Oh heck, this is tough to score! You're totally in the spirit of the Wally books, yet totally ignoring the challenge description (the bit about the "otherwise personless photo"!) I'll have to think about this one a bit longer.
That issue aside, I don't think you should have bothered about partially desaturating the crowd - the red/white clothes would have been just fine.

This is great. When I think of Where's Waldo, I don't see him hidden in a "person-less" image as such (even though that's what this challenge called for), I picture this sort of set up. I hope you aren't being hit too hard by dnmc'ers. Good luck!

Ooh, you might get slammed so bad having a lot of people in the shot, but it's more in keeping with the real Waldo illustrations, and great idea to have "Waldo" *look* like Waldo! Good job!

Well, technically DNMC, but I always thought the rules should allow for this shot (given the name of the challenge!) so I'll vote it as such.

You've done a good just of emphasizing the subject; one could argue whether that's a good thing for this challenge. Points for daring to go for the classic!

You took your image straight out of the idea of the book series. Unfortunately, it doesn't follow the rules of THIS challenge: "Hide a person in your otherwise person-less photo."

This fits the "Where's Wally?" book theme, but the dpc Challenge asks for one person in an otherwise personless photo. Contrary dpc!
