Well after we had such a lovely April, May and June were thouroughly miserable and I think it rained pretty much every day last month. Anyway I got up this morning and the sky looked a little brighter, although there are still puddles everywhere.

I quite like reflections in shots and as I was stood outside drinking a morning mug of tea I noticed this, so took a shot of it. Hopefully a sign of brighter things to come and I am trying to be as optimistic as possible about the challenge that lays ahead

Not too sure about the border but given that we were asked to submit square cropped images this was the only way I could make it work

Not necessarily a very interesting shot but I dont think the challenge is about necessarily producing wow images rather than recording whats happening

I agree this challenge is more about little slices of your life, and the things that catch you eye from minute to minute and day to day. I really like this one along with the story. Blue sky is always so welcome after a month of rain. If it was me, I would be outside dancing.

I love how clearly the clouds are reflected. I think the border works really well with this shot as well.

Nice shot Jon. I especially like the bit of green in the top left corner and how it and the sky and clouds in the puddle reflection create such great visual and thematic contrast. Kudos.

John this is WONDERFUL!

It's rich with tones and MAGIC how you've created hope in a puddle.

Straight to favourites for me - SMILE!

Where's a reflections challenge when you need one huh? Great shot, I love the clarity and vibrant colors of the reflection contrasted against the dark muddied ground, genius!!

Its a nice reflection and I think it needs more detail around the puddle but it is still very interesting.

Echoing what others have said, I really love the cleverness of this shot with the blue sky reflected in a rain puddle! The clouds on the right are a bit blown out, would like to see the detail in them but a very tiny issue :-)

I agree with you re: recording what's happening. This is just right for that -- a meaningful, well-taken shot that says exactly what the title does. :)

Nice contrast between the black earth and the blue skies. Shows promise of a brighter day.

i like the border. i think it is a nice juxtaposition to the curves of the puddle and the clouds. and i like the little green grass triangle upper right... just peeking in.

I too like reflections. It's always nice to find things in common. BTW, congrats on your Yappie award.

I do like the border (I completely forgot about the square crop thing...) This is an interesting photo because on the grimy ground, there is a reflection of a very pretty blue sky. Quite starkly opposite. You are clever.

Hooray for you! A break in the rain. The use of the reflection is a great way to capture the change in weather. Looks like some pretty clouds there :)

Nice capture. Like the dark area around it. Wonder if it would be even more powerful if the surrounding areas was even darker.

Great photo - I love the abstract feel. The borders are OK. sometimes I deal with this issue by resizing only one dimension in PS, which works with things, but not people:)

Well Jon, I myself quite like the border. It reminds me of the art slides I see sometimes. (I believe sevilduvarci uses this technique?) Anyway. I love how contrasting the beautiful sky and cloud is with the muddy "sidewalk" (if that is what this is). Nice sliver of green in the corner as well, imo.

I like the reflection, hope I'll see some blue sky today myself. Think the border is much too big.
