We begin this fourth season of 50 Days with painting. A new condo, a fresh start, and OH MY GOD MY ARMS HURT. This new place is way above and beyond any place that I've ever lived in before in terms of quality and neighborhood, and I'm excited to be living there, but getting it ready for next Saturday's move-in is hard work! I spent all day yesterday painting the living room and bedroom until I thought my arms would fall off. Actually, I only painted until I realized I needed more paint for the bedroom. I'll acquire that tomorrow. Today I put a second coat on one wall of the living room before I was running out of that color, too.

Then Uncle Pat came over with cooler tools than I've got to take down blinds and rearrange the ceiling hooks in the garage so we could hang my bike in there. You know, the bike that Amity gave me shortly before I moved to Colorado and which has since been collecting dust in my local family's garage. But now I have a place to store it and better places to ride it, so it'll be making a trip to a bike repair shop sometime in the near future for a good tune up.

Your first picture of Summer 2007 is the light switches in the bedroom, with the door frame taped off and a bit of a view into the living room. I know the living room looks very orange here. It's actually a nice terracotta, and it will be greatly toned down once the dining room color is up and the furniture and accessories come in.

Nice eye! A great example of seeing the possibilities that surround us daily. I love the colors and abstract quality. My first thought was "Wow, great idea." My second was "Yep, been there, done that" followed by a big smile. Great shot!

I tried for a terracotta color in my kitchen and ended up with orange. It took me about 24 hours to get used to it, now I love it.

Great way to start the summer -- and the challenge! I like the composition with the stripes balancing the square switch box.

Hahah! I hate taping before I paint. I've actually left tape up for days, if not weeks. Just because I'm lazy. :)

I like the abstract quality of this. And if any country is considering having a new national flag, they should contact you. ;-Þ

I like the terracotta, and what a gorgeous photo this is. The textures and lines hold my attention, and the story it tells is loud and clear. hard work, anticipation, disarray-coming-together... yes.

I may be facing the ordeal that is painting myself in the next month or two, if our offer is accepted on the house we hope to buy (stifles scream -- we are first time homebuyers and holy cow that is a lot of money to promise to pay someone). Painting is especially bad in our family because I am fond of more -- shall we say, more COLOR -- in rooms, and my husband thinks all walls should be off-white, pretty much, and that I'm being a crazy person for wanting to paint the living room a nice sunny light creamy yellow. sigh.

You look like you're doing a great job with the paint. I am not "allowed" to paint. I get the job of masking off things. Anyway, very impressive and I enjoy the contrasting colors in the image.

Very vibrant colors. Love the story behind it. Since I am so new at this it might take a few days before I get it down. Thanks for starting the project.

Hey, I like the living room colour!! It looks peachy. The colours you have chosen work well together and I hope you have a blast with your bike in your new neighborhood :)

I like this, great colors! I hate painting .. the last time I did I messed my shoulder up & it will bother me for life. I won't ever paint again! You have a great photo of something so ordinary :)
