I love pics of older trees. The funny thing is that I did not see the dinosaur first. I actually see a face or a skull. If you look to the top that angles right to the highest point - where the grass or mossy part is. That is the top of the skull. Just below it I see eyes, nose, and mouth. Call me crazy, but that's what I see.
I suppose it is probably better to tell Daisy that this is a fossil rather than a skull. You can now probably only imagine the kind of things that I am telling my own children heh heh heh.
And what might scuppered be? |

omg jon .. i put a tree with the bark sort'v peeling off in my portfolio the other day .. i called it 'bark' .. its a very different scene to yours and a different type of tree .. and i dont think the bark on your tree is actually coming off in quite the same way as my one .. its more like a big chunk ... your tree looks dead as well .. i think mine is still alive, altho i'm not sure .. when i come to think about it the only similarity is that we both took photographs of a tree ... i can see a very scarey face in yours .. thats another difference ... :):) .. sorry i sound like i'm raving ... think i need to sleep .. :) |

It is a little scary. There are so manyi interesting trees out there that could almost be a challenge in itself. Don't worry. I don't think Daisy will suffer permanent damage. |

I see what you mean about the head of a dinosaur, but in the thumbnail it looked like a giant claw (a la Godzilla!) |

I can imagine being scared by that, coming across it in the dark alone. ;-)
Nice shot of it -- good detail, and you've captured how dinosaurish it is. :).
(We used to have a snag along our road that looked so much like a dragon that we decorated it up with a face and spines along the neck, and people would use it in giving directions to each other. "Go half a mile past the tree that looks like a dragon...") |

I must admit, it is rather intriguing. Although, I would be scared to get too close to get a better look. Something might pop out of there! Very nice texture and mix of colors. (It almost looks as if there are veins that run along it... very interesting indeed!) |

Yes it is a bit scary - like something is living in it. Have you stuck your hand in there? Or maybe Daisy's hand? I'm sure she won't mind. ahahahahaha!
Nice shot, Jon. A bit fuzzy. Perhaps you were shaking with fear when you took it? Damn, I can't stop. Anyway - I do like it. Thanks for sharing your fun tree with us! And the accompanying story, too! |

I hope your daughter doesn't have bad dreams because of that story ;) hehe
I like this photo (composition, textures, etc...) and I think the story behind it is lovely as well. My only nitpick, and it is a small one, is that part of the tree is slightly blurry... perhaps an f8 or f10 for a greater dof??
Sorry to hear about your troubles with a forgotten memory card. If I could list the number of times I have done that, it would take up the whole page LOL Good to see I am not the only one :) |
