When I lived in Florida, working at the restaurant at Mousewicz, if the servers were really super busy they would that that they were "in the weeds". It's a golf reference, and in the Midwest and here in Colorado everyone just says they're "swamped". I've never heard "in the weeds" anywhere but at Disney. As I walked in nearly 100° heat from the bank to the Taco Bell just across the parking lot (for some ungodly reason was was craving greasy beef tacos), I took a few minutes to shoot the weeds in the drainage ditch along the road. On a trail, these purple thistles are wildflowers. In town, in a drainage ditch next to Taco Bell, they're weeds. And the phrase "in the weeds" resurfaced. I've been struggling with Accounting class, and I have a financial statement analysis project due Friday. I've been trying to paint and coordinate help for painting at the condo so the paint is done before the furniture arrives. And the furniture arrives on Saturday. Sometime in here, I need to run laundry, the dishwasher, pack my books, CDs and DVDs into boxes so the movers can take the shelves... before Saturday. Yep, "in the weeds" would aptly describe my life this week.

Nice shot of the prickley little devils! I like the green background & how there are more thistles too. Nice dof! Hope you get "out of the weeds" soon!

I've actually heard "In the weeds" when I waited tables here in Kansas. And I think you are in the weeds, swamped, and doing triple time! Hang in there. And your "weeds" are very pretty. I love the textures.

I adore Taco Bell-wish they'd bring back that chili cheese burrito! YUM and you can say oops, there's goes the cholesterol!

good luck with all you've must accomplish this week-you'' do it! one day at a time and no slacking! Enjoy the day!

Wow, so many things to say. First, every server I know (including my small stint at Red Lobster) says 'in the weeds'. Got friends in South FL and North FL. Never knew it was a golf reference. Second, I work for a Taco Bell franchisee (in the office, not in the Taco Bell) and I eat that stuff almost every day...still not totally over it yet (gross, huh?). And lastly, I love this shot! It has that 70's music box cover look. The light and subject are just right. I think this would look even more vintage if it were desaturated just a bit. Either way, very lovely image!

You're "in the weeds" and still manage to take your camera to Taco Bell. Now that's dedication!

ah, the ubiquitous purple thistle. Good shot -- nice light and bokeh. I can identify with the "in the weeds" feeling, but not (ew) the craving for Taco Bell. ;-) (I'm the sole Taco Bell holdout in our family. Everyone else loves it.)

A common staple in any Colorado lot, field or pasture...pretty and ugly weed(they'll always be weeds to me) at the same time. Great analogy to go with your photo. The DOF is really nice...well done!
