Like so many others, I've never seen a baby pineapple before. You're so lucky to have them growing in your yard. |

omg .. our pineapples are a completely different colour .. ours are a yellow green colour .. these are either a totally different type of pineapple, a clever photoshop job, or unripe or something .. great shot and love your crop .. :)
edit .... ahhhh .. silly me, i should'v read your comment BEFORE posting this .. 'a baby pineapple' .. i've never seen one before .. this one might grow up to be yellow/green !!!

Yum! Nice shot. At that stage you can REALLY see why they're called "pine" apples -- looks JUST like a pine cone. |

OK, to answer questions and respond to comments...
1) I fixed my "photo a day" link.
2) yes, they are red, turn green, and then yellow as they ripen
3) they take about 2-3 months to ripen
4) Yes, one fruit per plant.
Thanks for the comments! |

wow!! There are a lot of questions in these comments!! LOL I will not be asking anything... I have a set of encyclopedia in my library :) (I am just teasing the rest of you ;)
I like the light on this photo but would like to see a hair more contrast here and there... the colouring is good and the red is certainly differentiated from the background. |

I don't think I've ever seen a baby pineapple. Cool shot with nice colors. |

This is awesome. How prolific is a pineapple plant - one fruit per plant? Yum. Great photo, too. Very pretty colors and good DOF. |

Wow, I'm envious! I've never seen a pineapple on the plant before, this is very cool! Are they really so reddish? The leaves almost look like aloe, which is very common here in the desert. Beautiful! |

Pineapples are the southern symbol of hospitality. :)
There is nothing quite as good as fresh, straight from the plant pineapple. |

I only see those in the shop when they're grown up. Looks nice.
(btw. your "A Photo A Day" link in your profile doesn't work) |
