Independence Day parade: An excuse to start drinking in the early AM.

Every year at this parade I wonder why so many people start drinking so early. Just enjoying a beer? Starting on their holiday drunk? Putting on that mask to look cool (see this a lot)?

For the previous hour he was hanging with his buddies, drinking and smoking.
What you don't see here is that he's pulling his young daughter in a wagon. Now how cool is that?

I couldn't help but think of Clint Eastwood looking at this photo. "Do you feel lucky punk?" Definitely NOT a happy camper. Nice candid.

Yikes -- that look! Is that his general demeanor, or did he just dislike getting his photo taken? Good candid shot.

What interesting photojournalism. Knowing the story behind the guy is awesome because the photo reveals such an angry look in those eyes, and something about the story helps you know why.

My thoughts wander towards the little girl -- I wonder what was her evening like that day if her dad toted her around drinking since early in the morning. Yikes!

Wow, this dude looks pissed that you caught him being a bad parent!! :)

I like that you didn't blow out any of the white and that you can clearly see that the guy has been drinking for a while. Nice candid.

This is what I like about this challenge - you get to see the story that goes with the picture. What is probably really sad is that he probably got in the car later and drove his daughter around.

This is a great photo and the focus is perfect. Excellent candid!

I'm waiting to see your tractor in a parade pic lol.

Great story and I echo your sentiments entirely.

That look on his face seems to be saying dont photograph me, or perhaps he is just trying to focus

Very very good candid, if slightly depressing

He doesn't look like he is enjoying the taste of it too much.

You got a really clear image. I can even see the grunge in his fingers. Dof seems appropriate for the image as well. Did you get one of the little girl in the wagon?

Exactly why I hate these national holidays :( Very sad, him and the situation.

Nothing like celebrating the birthday of America with a fine Mexican beer.

Nice capture. It's a shame that so many people see a holiday as an excuse to get plastered.
