Found this for all who were interested......hope you don't mind Jon.
The sculpture is called Bottle of Notes
What is Bottle of Notes?
Claes Oldenberg and Coosje van Bruggen 1993
â€Â¢ The Bottle of Notes is a sculpture made for mima Centre Square by Claes Oldenberg and Coosje van Bruggen. It was completed in 1993.
â€Â¢ The Bottle of Notes is 30 x 16 x 10 ft (9.1 x 4.9 x 3.1 m),
roughly the same height as 28 lemonade bottles stacked top to bottom.
â€Â¢ The Bottle of Notes took 5 years to build and was based on drawings and a smaller sculpture that Claes Oldenburg produced using a plastic bottle and paper.
â€Â¢ Bottle of Notes is made of two steel bottle shapes made up of words. The words were created using giant stencils, enlarged from Claes Oldenberg’s original design. The Bottle of Notes was created by steel works in Teesside.
â€Â¢ The inner bottle is painted blue and includes a line from Coosje van Bruggen's poems based on a childhood impression of Dutch landscape: ‘I like to remember seagulls in full flight gliding over a ring of canals’.
â€Â¢ The outer bottle is painted white and includes a line from Captain Cook’s journals. (Captain Cook is an explorer who travelled the South Pacific Sea in the 1700s. Captain Cook was born in Marton, near to Middlesbrough in 1728). ‘we had every advantage we could desire in observing the whole of the passage of the Planet Venus over the Sun’s disc’.

Very cool subject. At first glance it looks like the people in front of it were posing on purpose; even though they're doing two very different things, their body shapes seem to match.

The bottle is very interesting. It looks like there is something written on it. Across the state line, in Missouri, they have these horrifyingly ugly rusting "things" they call art. It looks like something from a junk yard. So this is very pretty, and a bit thought provoking. What a fun find on your long trip. |

Nice capture Jon. You seem to be surrounded by unique and interesting things. (Note to self: Visit the UK)
Nice colors and interesting border. A definite thumbs up on this one mate. |

Great shot Jon. That is a really cool bottle. When I saw it in icon size I thought it was cow bottle. What does it say?

Wow, that was a real surprise to see!
I went to University in Middlesbrough, (so named because the spelt Middlesborough wrong on the original charter of the town) and always used to love this. 'boro is a really depressed place, a bit like Milton Keynes on a bad day, and this bottle really is a little shot of humour in an otherwise dreary town.
Thanks for making me smile |

how fun! i like the way they are walking there, so used to the giant art bottle that it doesn't seem surprising or unusual at all, just part of life! |

Excellent, and the people in the front give it a good perspective. |

What an interesting piece of work. It looks like it's made of words...do you know what the bottle says? |

That is dedication - to get a photo in after a long day like that! Sounds like you had a positive work day tho :)
What is written on the bottle? You should put that in your description since I am probably not the only one wondering. |

I think having the people in the foreground helps to establish the size of the 'bottle' |

Well that's definitely a funky piece of art that catches your attention! Neat capture, does the bottle have writing that creates the bottle itself? I like that you got the people in it too so you have an idea of how big it really is. |

Nice photo, Jon - goes well with those famous cows, too! You know - odd landmarks...
Thanks for the story - very interesting. Wish our local governments were more invested in the welfare of communities.
You're going to have to tell us what you do - with the lamp and the driving and the no time... sounds like you're very sought after! They better not find out that you will not stick your hand in The Mouth of The Beast. I'm sure you would lose whatever position you have... (just in case you were planning on sending any more of those scorpions)muahahaha! |

Thanks for sharing your commuting story, it is so interesting to hear about what other people's days are like, all so diverse yet similiar. This is an awesome shot, what a cool piece of art! You captured it well. |

That is a cool sculpture!! I would love to get inside and take a photo looking out :) hehe
You did an excellent job with the shot, I just wish those people weren't there... have they no respect for a person taking a flippin photograph?? ;) I am just joking, of course, they actually give a better scale of how large that bottle actually is and I am glad they are there... otherwise, we would just think it was a sly camera trick ;) |
