Well, here is the Water Skimmer. He was sunning himself on a rock and looked so happy, I just HAD to take a picture :)

These little guys freak me out when they crawl on me in the water (feels like spiders) but they look so very interesting, I cannot help but to stare at them when I see them.

Their legs are so long to avoid breaking surface tension when they walk on the water :) Cool little beasties.

I've never heard of those. He's a really strange looking creature.

I love the bokeh off the water.

great bug macro; I like the tones.

Interesting differences in fauna: 1) your water skimmers look different from ours; ours look like a cross between daddy longlegs and mosquito hawks -- and 2) our water skimmers never get out of the water, that I'm aware of.

I've never seen one of those things not on the water. They're less creepy on the water. But I've never had one crawl on me either.

They are a little creepy, but interesting for sure, I didn't know about that about their legs. I've found that I watch bugs a lot more since I started taking more pictures, I guess it's trying to find the beauty in things...even little creepy crawlers :) Good shot Jojo!

excellent close up .. love the muted colours and the way the water has seeped into the rock .. i'd like to see a photo of one of these critters actually on the water and his legs forming depressions .. that's be really cool !! .. :):)
