 I had to do a site assignment this morning so after I was done I went to a local nature trail to actually get pictures of something to use for the Lucky 7 Challenge. (Plus it was nice to get away to some peace and quiet!)

This Monarch crossed my path and it looked like it was going to fly away but then it came by and landed on a nearby bush. It was patient enough to let me screw up a lot of pictures before finally getting a good one.

I think that Monarchs are supposed to be symbolic of transformation and rebirth - so this was good for me to see. I have also been told that Monarchs can be symbolic hello's from those who have passed on. Maybe this will brighten someone's day today.

This is an amazing shot! I haven't tried to shoot butterflies before. I guess I'm afraid it'll be too hard to capture their beauty, you did a great job!

hey michelle ... a fantastic photograph and an excellent write up .. the colours are magnificent and i particularly like the way the colours of the butterfly contrast with those excellent shiny green leaves .. everything about this is perfect ... & i didnt know that monarchs symnbolise transformation & rebirth and can be a hello from someone who has passed on .. thanks for that info :):)x .. :)

Okay, I was happily commenting along and came across your entry for today... I hadn't noticed the lucky 7 challenge!! So, I had to run and shoot for it :P hehe

I love butterflies so much I have 2 tattooed on my person :) You have WONDERFUL contrast and saturation going on here!! You brightened MY day for sure!! :)

I did not know all that re: the story of the Monarch's arrival. It brightened my day. Wish I could've seen it in person, but it looks so wonderful as it is. Very nice.
