About three hundred yards away from where I live is the Ouse Valley Park. I often walk or cycle along it. After you walk down the river for about a mile it is crossed by the Wolverton Iron Trunk Aquaduct which transports the Grand Union Canal. A lot of people just assume this very narrow tunnel (its about 5.5 ft high by 2.5 foot wide is just a footpath but in actual fact when the Aquaduct was built (can you guess the year!!!) this was for cattle to get from one set of fields to another.

Its very dark in here and you always want to be the first to go into it if you are with someone as the lead person blocks out even more light.

Trolls live under the aquaduct and I can only assume given some of my recent DPC scores that I have somehow offended them

This has a very interesting perspective. I really like being able to see out of the other side of the tunnel. Thats really cool.

This has a very interesting perspective. I wasn't expecting to be able to see out of the other side of the tunnel. Nice job!

What beautifully colored brick.

Thanks the notes explaining the tunnel.

I like the theory on trolls -- I suggest that we all get together and brick up both ends of the tunnel, trapping the trolls inside. Then we can get back to taking good pictures. 8)

Wonderful colors and good story to go with it. The green in foreground and background really add to the picture.

I love your English countryside pics - quite touristy. I like that you included the date of the structure and then framed the exit with the archway. Looks like an interesting place to explore. Just curious about the brick color?

I love the composition and the textures in this shot. The story is just icing on the cake :-). Aqueducts are the neatest things and can be found all over the world. Would be an interesting photo study.

love the story!

You know what this reminds me of somehow is Watership Down -- the tunnel the rabbits go through in the escape from Efrafa -- except that one was under a railway.

Fantastic shot as well. You composed it just right -- the vines coming down around the date, contrasting with the bricks, with the other end of the tunnel off in the distance and slightly off-center... lovely.

What a neat perspective! Very creative and so interesting. We have nothing that old around here in the Wild West. LOL!

Great story! I think I would be a little scared going into this tunnel (especially with all the trolls). This is a great shot with the end of the tunnel in sight too, very cool!
and yes, I do have too many pairs of shoes :)

I really like the contrasting shapes, textures and colors. Very nice and something quite unique. Now about those trolls and the dark entrance... it all sounds a bit scary!

I like this so much! First, that is an incredibly cool color for bricks. Next, I like seeing the little tiny exit door compared to the entrance. Great composition :-)
LOL at the last paragraph!! I may live far away and have never met your trolls, but somehow I must have managed to offended them too....
