 When all else fails, take pictures of the local papermill. :)

Actually, I was out riding around until time to meet my husband for lunch (just us, no kids!) and the sun was shining "behind" me, but it was cloudy over the mill. I liked the effect.

I was going to enter a shot from today in the "Paper" challenge and title it -- Paper, In the Beginning. But, I decided that wasn't "out of the box" that was downright dnmc. :)

Oh, and it was taken with a 70 - 300, not an 80 - 200. I've just not added to my profile yet.

well, even before I read the title, I thought it was a papermill. I don't know why, though. It's good how the smoke goes parallel to the slope of the mountain. ;-Þ

I can just smell it. My grandparents live near a papermill and I can smell when I'm getting close to their house. At least it looks cool in pictures.

Good industrial image, and I like that you show the natural setting, too. You're probably right about the DNMC for the paper challenge as it would rely too much on the caption to make the connection.

Speaking of challenges, congrats on making the top 30 for dichotomy, but I think you should have been in the top 10 for that VERY creative image. I'll make sure I drop by and comment on it, too. :-)

See that is the mark of a good photographer, you can take a picture of something as inherantly ugly as a polluting and old IU and turn it into a visually attractive image

Kind of funny to see that popped out in the middle of a mountainous area. I like how the steam pops out of the background.

Great photo! Excellent clarity and color.

Not especially appreciative of natural light in the workplace now are they? It looks like an absolutely ghastly place to work.

So that's what a paper mill looks like :-) Very interesting shot! I like how the clouds of smoke mirror the line of the hills in the back, it looks like a well-thought-out composition!

stunning shot .. love it .. the clouds, the smoke, the clarity of those buildings .. it looks like an excellent lens !! ... its interesting but we have a similar building being constructed not far from home ... its a factory in the beginning !! ... i dont think its gonna be a paper mill, but it does remind me of your buildings .. its in a very rural setting .. there's pasture, hills, trees ... and a factory!!! .. it looks a little out'v place .. bit like this one .. :)

Absolutely love this shot. The darkened sky with the subject sunlit is one of those classic shots that I have *never* managed to pull off.

Brings the old line about "dark satanic mills" to mind
