DAY 12
Met an old friend on my way out to shoot. Talked too long and lost my light.
Muddy looking ladybug and bright orange aphids on milkweed. I'm very pleased with the texture on the leaf. Been windy in the evenings last few days. Hard to get what I want!

This is a Multicolored Asian Lady Beetle (Harmonia axyridis) www.bugguide.net
The Oleander Aphid (Aphis nerii) is sucking sap from the milkweed leaf. They are a major source of food for ladybug larva. Didn't see any larva tonight. would have been perfect.

Interesting colouration of the leaves. It would be interesting to see the leaves without all the bugs too, but they do make for something different to view! :)

Now this is an interesting shot. I agree, the leaf pattern is pretty. But there are too many darn aphids to appreciate it. :)

Love the colors! You gotta love a bug that is not only "cute" at times but is also darn useful.

Ewww...up close aphids are nasty looking creatures! Looks like the leaf is none the worse for the wear though.

yuck! I hate the infestation bugs! Grat detail on the milkweed & the little critters...

I'm reading this book entitled DIgital Photgraphy by Scott Kelby. he recommends when the wind is your enemy, slow down the shutter speed, and let the wind help create the image...like the slow soft water shots.
hmm...

anyway, that's my helpful tip for today.
