Well here is my very first submission to DP challenge. This a a photo of a co-worker of mine, Mike. I have been taking photos of the staff here for the website and thought that this would be a good opportunity to make a submission while I have some "talent" already dressed up for a shoot. I told him about the contest and he was more than happy to help. We took about 30 or so photos outside and this was actually an unplanned shot while moving from one location to another. I really like the reflection of the steps in the glass, and I think that the underexposed background helps pop him out from the background. I'm excited to hear your comments.

I actually have the f1.4 lens, I just happen to set it at f1.8, but yeah I have focus problems with it sometimes. Maybe just user error but it definitely acts differently from my other lenses. I wish it scored a little higher as well but it's my first submission so I just hope to improve a little every time. I've only been into serious photography for about a year so I'm still learning.

Nice idea with the stairs/escalators in the back, but in my opinion the head (in color) doesn't match the overall black and white of the rest of the photo.

I think the lighting is right on, and the angle is a great idea, but I think you may take a hit because of the sharpness not being all there on the face. Great pose and expression non the less.

First glance - he looks like a young Fox Mulder.

I like the angle this is shot at, but not crazy about how the arms are cropped off.

sexy.

The way the light bounces off the subject's face makes for a soft feel... he looks like he's going into battle with a confidence only a suit can give.
