Taken yesterday, my wife graciously posed. Processed using Lightroom and then typical steps including some clone removal of skin defects, curves, hue and sat, bit of dodging and burning around the eyes, gaussian layer to smooth skin and cropped, resized and sharpened. NOt much luck with challenges lately but hoping for a 5.7

Well you asked for my comment so here goes :) Pretty wife, pretty light and well exposed and I like the DOF. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this shot technically so my best guess is why it didn´t score better is maybe DPC is getting used to these technically good photos that you need a little more. I mean she is really pretty and has a lovely smile but it seems a bit like that´s all there is, she isn´t really portraying any deep emotion and you don´t really connect to her in the shot, who she is and that kind of stuff, she´s "just" a pretty lady with a pretty smile.

Also I guess a couple of those low votes were from anal people who think catchlights meant you didn´t use natural lighting from it so they DNMC voted it.

That´s my best guess :)

Very nice portrait of your wife, Jack. It does look natural with your carefull PP. Guess your prediction of a 5.7 came true.

An appealing portrait that gives the viewer a bit of an insight into the person rather than just concentrating on individual facial features. Your subtle post processing is spot on. Very good work.

Great portrait. The lighting is very good. You must have used a reflector to fill in under the cap brim? Very nice work.

like the photo, but wish that the neck had little less light (lower exposure maybe?)

nice expression, nice background blur - I find the hat takes away from her eyes -

THe texture of her skin seems inconsistent. The focus is a little confusing too. While the eyes and teeth are sharp the nose is blurry.

Well green is my favourite colour but I don't like the lighting on her face, it just draws attention to the wrong places.
