 I prefer simple , more natural floral shots. I did not use a tripod and There were no special "setups" used for this as I have limited equipment.
I was interested in capturing the beautiful color of these petals and having them just jump out ..I used a border to accentuate the contrast between the petals and the subtle greens in the bkrnd. I added just a touch more contrast to this image and used "dodge" on the center of the Susan. Other than sharpening this image, that is all I did.

Great shot...color, DOF, 1/3rd composition, and agree that the yellow border helps as well.

Very straightforward and elegant composition and fantastic color contrast. The border's a nice touch, too. One of my 10's in the challenge.

I was getting tired of the flower shots until I came to this one. It is simple and beautiful and different. It is a new flower with a more direct approach to floral photography. the depth of field is wonderful and I love that you used a yellow border. it really ties the whole thing together with the greens and yellows. I really really like this
