Challenge: Road Signs Re-revisited (Basic Editing I)
Camera: Canon EOS-10D
Location: Burlington, Ontario
Date: Jan 18, 2004
Aperture: F 5.60
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/60s
Galleries: Cityscape, Sky
Date Uploaded: Jan 18, 2004

This was a tricky one to shoot, it was tricky to crop, and it was especially tricky to balance. On the last point, I am sure that I will get comments saying that I underexposed the sign. I confess that I am guilty as charged, and so I spent a couple of hours trying to rebalance the levels in Photoshop. I finally arrived at what I feel is a good balance between the sign being visible, and keeping the cool feeling of dawn and the subtle colours of the sky.

That's one sign you'd better pay attention to.

I would have liked it better with the right side cropped all the way up to the road sign. The light on the left is sufficient, IMO. Great subject matter for the challenge!

A shame the sign is a little too dark, love the composition and details in the shot.

Almost perfect! The composition is beatiful. Nice colors, elements etc... Well the only thing that is not good is the sign. In order to get the same exposition as get, you need to use fill flash, or a second slave flash positioned near to the sign. If you can change the exposition, get the sign ca be more easy. In this type of pictures you need to target the horizon, setup the exposition, lock it, then recompose your scene focus and shoot.

Nice picture. I had a similiar idea. I was waiting a long time on the scene for a boat to pass on the Intercoastal Waterway. One never did, of course until after I was on my way. Good job. 9
