The light at the skirt of the mother comes from a water fountain that starts at the monument and continues towards the temple. I photos of the fountains in my portfolio if you're intersted. It was a freezing night too. Wow.

The night was really cold. Lots of snow on the ground. I didn't have any gloves either. I had to keep my time there very short.
Anyways, the white light behind the family circle is a water fountain. You'll notice the fountain as one of my shots for the National Geographic photo. It's very cold so the steam was rising from the fountain and the long shutter made the water blur abit. |

That's a great shot. Actually being there I was quite impressed by all the architectural accomplishments. And having Mormons friends along with me they gave me a big background on it all. All in all a great shot. I am curious to know what that white light is though. |
