 This is a re-shoot of a picture I took last monday...two days too early for this contest. I took three shots, hand-held, just a spontanious shot of an unusual flower, and one was perfect. Possibly my favorite flower capture (that I have taken). Trying to recreate it, 50 shots with a tripod, I could not get the same shot...the one I chose ended up very different composition from the original.

Shot just before sunset. On tripod, timer shutter release, minimum focus distance at 70mm.

The definition of still-life is: "Representation of inanimate objects, such as flowers or fruit, in painting or photography." (dictionary.com)

I was unaware of any requirement for the subject to be un-naturaly staged.

Nice shot, a shallower DOF to blur the backgroundwould make the flower stand out more.

Spectactible!! Have taken a foto very similar to this w the center glowing in the floral challenge.. Good Luck :)

good compostion, great control of DOF to get the needed parts in focus and supporting features OOF. Bright yellows really draw your eye in....My only complaint is the black outline on some of the petals...maybe over sharpened? 7
