 Shot in infrared under just a desk lamp.
Crop, slight rotate. Levels, hue/ sat to remove most color, selective color, resize, noise reduction, unsharp mask.
The flower is a christmas cactus starting to open.

OH I just love this! Only thing that bothers me just a little, is the darkness on the sides- I think I'd prefer the background to be all dark, or all lighter- probably dark.

I really wanted to give this a 9 instead of the 8, but it took a while to figure out what was off about it. The first thing is it is not level. The straight line of the table shows the slant, which makes the shell look off. A little clockwise rotation would have made the difference. The dark shadow up in the left corner also keeps grabing my eyes. Usually it's the lightest area that attracts the eyes, but in this case, since the contrast of the shell, flower and rest of background are pretty close to the same, it's the dark corner that stands out the most. Nice job over all though.

Very strange and alluring subject...I don't really even know what it is. I love the muted tones though. I'm giving it a 9 and would have given a 10 if it weren't for the distracting sides on the background (Well I like the right side that keeps you in the photo, but the left side is distracting).

Nice composition, the lighting is ok, I see alot of color splotches in the background, the angle is a tad low, or not enough head room, 6.

This is original and nicely lit. The upper left of the frame looks like your background has fallen away and distracts from an otherwise very good picture.

nicely done. One point of critic: the photograph is a little out of balance( 1 or 2 gr. clockwise) But love the duo tone?
