I think alot of the issue with this photo came with the focusing, I have looked at it on 2 monitiors(one cal'd, one not) and the focus seems soft one both. It sadly seems a bit worse on the uncal'd one. I am going to give a bit of both to you and hope it helps you.
On the cal'd monitor, the colors are good, the softness dulls the texture of the mountain not giving a sharp feel to it. On the uncal'd monitor, the trees look blurred together slightly and again the mountain is not sharp.
I like the idea of it but I was one of your 5's in the challenge due to the overall photo being less sharp.

That's a beautiful scene. It looks good just as you have it. If I would think that any improvement could be done, it would be to try to bring out the trees a little better in PP. I like the moon in shots like this when the ground is bright enough to get the shot without blowing out the features of the moon. |

Looks much Loon Lake in the Crystal Basin. Focus is a bit soft. |
