This is a Hmong grandfather - high in the mountains of Northern Thailand - with his grandson slung on his back. Usually it was the women or children carrying the babies but this man was clearly a pro.
These people work so hard as farmers - in the fields all day - their skin is so weathered and golden.
I spent two weeks in July as part of a missionary/medical team visiting different Hmong villages in the mountains of northern Thailand. Sharing the Gospel and much needed medical care. It was an incredible and perspective-changing experience. Although I was not there to take pic's I stole a couple shots now and then. This one is a little softer than I like but the composition pleases me enough that I decided to post it anyway.
Unfortunately not shot in RAW - I was conserving space. Elements - crop, selective color, minor cloning, dodge/burn, blur, USM, high pass sharpen, hue/sat, contrast mask, stroke, save for web. |

| this is a great portrait, shows good balance and contrast. This is one of the pictures that should be square cropped, unlike most. |
