 Local motocross race. This is actually the second place rider in that division. I shot the first placer from the same angle, but the checkered flag had fallen off the pole as the guy was waving it and the first place man didn't look back.

Editing: Crop, curves, slight hue/sat, resize.

This shot was printed in the Farmington Daily Times on Tuesday, July 31, along with another from the previous day:

i would do a tighter crop leaving out the 'stand' on the right

Cropping out the stadium on the right, leaving the rider and the flag would
have given a nice feel :-)

Don't look at me...watch the ground!! Nice stop action! Think you could have cut out some of the people on the right to better accentuate the rider. Keep it up!

Now we're talking. Great timing, and focus. Too bad you weren't positioned a bit different to get all of the flag waver and none of the boring chicks to the right, but still the bike and the checkered flag really make the shot. Well done, 7.

Nice job on getting the rider in crisp focus. It's great that he's looking toward the camera. It's a shame the two spectators on the right are not looking toward the rider and/or the flag.
