So, I was going to shoot a wedding for my friend down by Flint. Got to his place early, and on the way in the house stopped outside to finish my smoke. Saw this guy sitting there on the flower, had the camera in my hand anyways, and couldn't resist taking a couple quick shots before I went inside. I forgot all about it until just tonight I was going through my July stuff, looking for potential free study shots. I saw this one, opened it up and began to play around with the crop, and started really digging it. So this is what's going in :-)
In ps- cropped, cloned out a few hot pixels, neat image, levels, curves, curves, hue/sat, high pass, screen and linear burn with opacity dropped, resized, smart sharpen, usm, curves, border, sfw
thanks for checkin' out my pic :-) |

What a sweet image. The sharpness on the hopper is dead right. The stamen of the flower and the rest of the colours are a great contrast. |

Very cool macro...he seems to have crawled out just far enough to see what you're doing. The juxtapositions of colors and subjects really make this interesting. Great job! |

Why did I only give this an 8? I should have given it a 10. So I will.
The color and sharpness are outstanding. |

The red flower sets off the grasshopper perfectly; very nice DOF and detail. |

What a great combination of color and subject. Don't know if you got lucky or staged this - regardless it's a shot worth keeping! Best of luck to you in the challenge. |
