 Sunrise on the John Day Fossil Beds. I was there 10 years ago and shot this:





Have talked with other photographers and the locals here. 1997 was the last year the yellow flowers bloomed. Was sad to go back this year, they have put up a large fence a ways from the hills, I didn't know why until I returned home and looked at the images. They are cloned out, but there are alot of footprints on these pretty hills, probably human.

What a great place to get lost in yourself. I've really been wanting to take a gander out that way... How long of a drive from Portland?

Sad about the yellow flowers but Oregon is weird that way. Our fruit trees didn't produce this year :(

Stunning. The colors and textures are outstanding. The photo with the yellow flowers is the bomb. I hope it's not due to pollution that they haven't bloomed in 10 years.

I really, really like your photo. It looks like a very interesting place - like places I've seen in New Mexico, Arizona or Utah. I'm giving it a 10 and hope it will finish in the top 20 in this mega-entry challenge.

Lovely color and texture. It's hard to grasp any context for scaling/size without a foreground anchor. Overall it's an interesting capture. Good luck in the challenge.
