from the blurgeois pedagogues thread:
another purpose of blur: it helps us to forget.
We forget who we are. We forget where we were going. We forget that we were looking at a photograph. We forget if ducks live in the air or in the water. We forget if water is blue or green. We forget that we can't see air. It's a pleasant sort of forgetting, like stepping off a porch into a rubber tambourine, wondering why rain goes up. Sometimes we don't want to drink the green tea, we want to swim in the green tea. Blur helps us do that. |

This, for me, is one of those dreams that morphs into a nightmare, and this is the point of morphing. It's been pleasant until now, if not a little disjointed, with abrupt changes in place and lack of a true linear narrative, and then suddenly - BAM! Time to wake up . . . |

Don't know why - but this is very moving to me. The motion... the colors... amazing. |

I can't decide, in my mind I am seeing this poor thing getting absolutely drenched by a downpour, but I also see..
The Mothman in there. ;)
I didn't get to see the other title, so basing judgement only on 'her soul', I like it. :) |

Quite beautiful. There's little to critique for me because I can find little that doesn't strike me about this as right on. I love the bit of dirt near the top of the frame, and the dizzy motion is really great. I guess I'll break from everyone else and wonder what it would have looked like without the cross-processed feel, perhaps in a deep contrast black and white... but this is really lovely. |

Great shot, full of rushing, there seems to be movement in so many planes here, almost in defiance of geometry, I could see this huge on a billboard, but I find the title distracting, i don't like to be led that much, this one cries out for 'untitled'.

Great title as well, Lesley :-) I'm not sure "ugly" is the word we want, but "determinedly non-aesthetic" would work :-) There's story-telling at work here, and that's why this works. |

Acid and blur work so well together, don't they?!
I really like the effects achieved with the lens baby. I must purchase one of these : ) |

Don't go into the light! :D The suggestion of motion here and the light rays effect give this shot a sense of momentousness that wouldn't be there if it were a pin-sharp stopped-motion capture. |

Your bird here has soul.
Looks like she managed to scatter it all over after she ditched her egg too! |

Methinks you're channeling xion in this one. Now if you're gonna play your own game, you gotta add info! Lensbaby - OK. Now beyond that - settings? Post? (I suspect cross processing, yes?) Has a glorious sense of being on the fringes of freedom. |
