I really like this "slice of life" capture. And I think that the tone on tone part of it really lends itself to the mystery part too. |

This for me is primarily a candid, and the blur (as has been said) works in that respect to add to that feeling; it is a shot, though, that I think would not be substantially different had the focus been sharp. |

Exactly! :)
The only difference in my mind is that as I peer down from the bus window, my mind wonders what he is reading that has so piqued his interest. Fiction, non-fiction, is it something that has will hold my mind for longer than 5 minutes... etc.
Yes, I honestly have these conversations in my head about stuff like that. :D |

Like a record sleeve photo, very sweet, almost other worldly, and very melancholy indeed, like a treasured memento. |

I like the outdated feel of it too. Like this was found in the bottom of a drawer. Blur rocks. |

If you think the sweater is dorky, how about the hat? I have him pegged as Austrian :-) The image doesn't do a lot for me, however... It has a certain charm, but I wouldn't come back to look at it over and over again... |

This is a nice candid, I always wonder how people can read a book just standing around, the bit of blur indicates the shot was taken in haste and adds to the candidness. |

Like the composition. Light in upper left and lower right frame the subject nicely. The slight blur works in that it adds mystery. Nice. |
